Strange title I know, but after my wonderful family, daffodils and chocolate are the other 2 loves of my life. Oh, and Flower Fairies but there is a limit to the length of a title!

This probably has to be my most favouritest month of the year!

Not only daffodils but the upcoming promise of Easter eggs.
No reason needed to eat chocolate.
Pure happiness on the horizon.

Well my foray into the world of sewing has finished for the time being, and my trusty Singer sewing machine (made in 1950 according to the serial number) has been packed away.

Each dress that I made came complete with a covered hanger with a flower to compliment the colour of the dress. I was very proud of this addition.
The perfect finish to a little girls outfit.

And now on to other things. I have been busy making a trillion flowers. I want to use them to cover a canvas. My youngest daughter bought me 2 large white canvases to make for the conservatory, and 4 small ones to replace some very old embroideries in the downstairs loo. i am going to start with the small ones, and see how it goes. I got a glue gun for Christmas. I used it fleetingly last week to help Suzan to decorate an Easter bonnet for Aylah to wear at school. I'm now trying to pluck up courage to get it out again to stick my crochet flowers to the canvases. I've heard there is no going back. Once stuck that's it. Scary!!

So wish me luck. I'll hopefully get chance to attempt this project very soon. Mind you, I'm going to need a lot more flowers. The pale pinks, blues and purples will match the wallpaper in the loo. The large canvases will be brighter I think, but plans are whizzing around my head and nothing is set in stone until the glue gun makes the final commitment!!

9 dresses completed.

Finally my dress-making stint has come to an end, although I'm not sure if people will think they are good enough to sell. I have completed a grand total of 9!!

3 dresses for Aylah who is almost 5
L - R. Hedgerow, Stripes & Retro flowers

The 3rd dress made, I'm on a roll.

.... and here we are. Yesterdays effort.

I still have one more to make today. A little bird one for Amber with a blue top.

.......and then surprise, surprise the post man bought a package with 2 other fabrics. So exciting! Lets hope the girls all want to wear dresses this summer and don't live in shorts.

My plan is to use the lilac top with the pink elephants for Amber, and the white cotton top with the pink retro flowery fabric, as follows:-

It's now 10:30 pm. I had a visit this afternoon from my daughter with Adam and Aylah. They always pop in after school on a Monday and Friday to get Aylah ready for her gym lesson which is close by. Due to our bug-filled house, I haven't seen them for nearly 3 wks. Aylah was overjoyed to see her dresses, and in true 4yr old style, stripped instantly to try them both on!! So as well as making a start on Amber's bird dress, I have been hemming Aylah's 2 dresses.

More dresses hot off the machine!

A productive day. The little field-mouse dress for my youngest granddaughter was finished last night apart from the length which will have to wait until I'm finally bug-free and she can visit. Rather pleased with the result, just hope it fits around her ample 16 month old chest!

Then on to another one. This time I decided to use the bright red bolero top with the floral material. Aylah suits bold colours so this one should be perfect.
This design is called Hedgerow, and I'll add the pictures tomorrow when I can take advantage of the daylight. That will leave one more to make using the little bird fabric, although I have ordered some more. Also some plain wooden children's hangers which I plan to jazz up with possibly a white cotton crochet cover and a co-ordinating flower. The cover will make the hangers non-slip and add a bit extra pzazz as a gift.

Trying to be more energetic than I actually feel.

I'm now in my 3rd week off work with this damn flu. I just want to feel 'normal' again.
I have gathered together the fabric that I bought for my grand-daughters dresses, in the hope that I can start working on ones for Aylah and Amber. I haven't seen Laicee to measure yet, due to my bug-filled house, but no doubt she will want one too! I've made different size bolero tops in different colours so will have to see which ones match which fabric the best. The striped one is finished except for the hem, so I have 3 more to work on for now.

PS. Doc has signed me off until next week, so it looks like another few days of vegetating in the warm and trying to get better.

February has gone!

Where on earth did February go?

I have distant memories of Valentines day..... ......and my amazing bouquet of red roses from the OH, but then flu bug struck and we both succumbed to the dreaded lurgy, and are only just beginning to emerge from our pit of germs and despair, coughing and lethargy. The only plus side of these weeks of misery was the realisation that as an over 60, I now qualify for free prescriptions, and also the fact that between us we lost nearly a stone in weight.

Both having time off work is not a usual occurrence, we both tend to soldier on. In fact the last time I had time off work was following a car crash 3 years ago when I could barely move my neck for weeks.

SO.. that is two weeks of our lives that we won't get back, spent sneezing, complaining and feeling each other's foreheads.

The bug had hit so suddenly that I had only just started an experiment on summer dresses for the grand-daughters. I had crocheted a bolero top,
and ordered some pretty fabric for an A-line skirt.

I had almost completed one before I was laid low and had no interest in anything creative for days.

I must be starting to feel better, as the envelopes containing the other fabrics are calling to me. Maybe tomorrow the 'urge' to create will have returned. I do so hope so.
