It's basically been a bit dreary all day. Damp, wet and decidedly grey.....but then what better excuse than to sit and crochet, after a small amount of housework of course, to appease the 'dust fairy'.

| Just look at that grey sky |
I had received a new order of wool at the beginning of the week, with little idea of what I really had planned for it. 8 balls of a lovely cream yarn called 'Pearl', and 5 balls of 'Eau de Nil', that had looked pretty on the PC screen but I can't for the life of me remember what I actually had planned for it. I'm sure something will pop into my head,....one day! The pattern that I had been waiting for, had arrived but I was having second thoughts about that. There's a bit of a pattern (excuse the pun) developing here with all my indecisions.
Anyway I set to work with the 'pearl' yarn, intending to start a different style of blanket. I needed a break from the 4 'call the midwife' blankets recently finished for all the new babies due in the family over the next few months.
So this was my first attempt at a new pattern. I'd almost finished a 100gm ball of yarn before I decided that I wasn't sure about it. Rather than frogging the whole lot, I decided to start another one. After all I had 8 balls to play with so no real panic.
Effort no.2 was a V-stitch pattern that I'd found, but after 8" I was sooooo bored. It was almost 24" wide, so going by the measurements I had taken of the grand-girlies when I made their dresses, this should fit the middle one, Aylah. I divided for the arm-holes. Completed the front and back. sewed it up. I made the sleeves in situ rather than separately. Crocheted a narrow band to make a small collar and button band, and it was done. BUT no, I wasn't finished yet. It just looked a bit bland, so after a dig around for the right colour, I made some 'latte' coloured daisies with some plain wooden beads that were lurking in my 'odds & sods' box. Added to the front border, it finished off nicely.
Now I'm happy.
